Report: Russia, Egypt agree on 90% of nuclear plant contract
CAIRO, Dec 8 (PRIME) -- Russian nuclear power corporation Rosatom and the Egyptian government have so far agreed on 90% of a commercial contract for construction of the country’s first nuclear power plant, Egypt’s economic newspaper Al Bursa reported Thursday citing government sources.
The Russian delegation is expected to visit Egypt next week to assess preparatory works for the plant construction, the newspaper said.
The El Dabaa nuclear power plant will comprise four 1,200-megawatt units. Russia earlier agreed to provide a U.S. $25 billion loan to finance 85% of the construction.
Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachyov said on Tuesday that a full-scale contract on the plant construction could be signed by the end of the year.
